The television channel's survival depends on TRP's and to achieve this  they sometimes resort to making issues of non-issues. The " Puppy" comment and being a Hindu Nationalist statement made by Mr. Narendra Mody  is a case in point. The last I heard is that our country is also known as " Hindustan". Our national song is , " Sare Jahan se Achaa Hindustan Hamara.....". Our politicians have become so touchy  in the name of secularism that they might demand a change in this also.
We seem to be the only ones truly confused about our identity. Being a Hindu seems something to be ashamed of and if the pseudo secularists have their way it will soon it will become an unmentionable word. While religion should never be the cause of strife it should not be something to shy away from either. The Vatican is a force unto itself solely because of its faithfuls. For the Jews it is the raisin de être for their survival itself. Islam beckons its faithful to consider anything remotely critical to its tenets as blasphemous or so the faithful would have us believe. But in the name of secularism or to be more accurate appeasement we have sunk so low that anything connected with Hindu, Hinduism or soon maybe Hindustan itself will be considered a dirty word. Hinduism as a religion has been most tolerant and known to be as such and so it should be. Hence wearing our identity and our nationalism should be a matter of pride and not something to be ashamed of.
